For a very long time I did not know what extreme breakouts felt like , but the past three to four months have not been kind to my face at all especially my forehead.

Initially I thought they were hormonal breakouts because I had my period around the same time I started to break out, however my hormonal breakouts were usually one to three at different parts of my face.

This experience was rather very new to me as the breakouts were all gathered on my forehead and they looked different from what I usually experienced.

They appeared as whitish bumps on my skin and each passing day new ones popped out. They were also very painful and I noticed that each time I used an oil based product I’ll break out even more.

When it all began …

It is such a humbling experience because I have never been so frustrated about a skin concern like this.

All the products I had just did not work for me any more and I just had to find another way out.

From my little research I realized it could be a clogged pores problem or fungal acne.

So I decided that I will try out new skincare products targeted at the problem and that’s what led me to the Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliant by Paula’s Choice.

ᴡʜᴀᴛ ɪᴛ ɪs

A gentle leave-on chemical exfoliant with salicylic acid which is targeted at unclogging pores, brightening  and evening out the skin tone.
It is a Beta hydroxy acid (BHA, also known as salicylic acid) mimics the natural exfoliation process of younger skin by helping it shed extra layers while unclogging and clearing pores.

It works to exfoliate dead skin cells while clearing pores for a more even, radiant tone. It is also noted for visibly reducing fine lines and wrinkles to reveal remarkably smoother, younger-looking skin

It has a pH range of 3.2–3.8 and gentle enough for daily use.

I cannot exactly figure out what it smells like but it is definitely not an offensive smell.

I didn’t expect results right away because I am aware that these things take time to heal and eventually go away.

Not only did I notice that I had fewer breakouts a few days after I began the treatment but also there was a significant change in the appearance of the breakouts. They were reduced and some had dried out.

My breakout experience left behind hyperpigmentation around my forehead , it is my fourth week after using the product I noticed that the dark spots were not as prominent but I am still on the journey and I am hopeful that in the long run I will yield the results I am aiming for!

Once in a day or twice I interchange the usage rate because we do not want to over exfoliate.

It is the next step after my RoseWater Toner , what I do is apply it to my entire  face using a cotton pad while I avoid my eyelids (as instructed on the Paula’s Choice website)
On days that I use it during the day I definitely follow up with a Sunblock.

𝕃𝕒𝕤 𝕃𝕒𝕤!! I am not in the happiest place with my face right now but I am happy that the results are progressive.

Have you tried chemical exfoliants yet ? Which one  has worked for you or which one are you willing to try ?
